What a wonderful surprise to drive up to the Berkeley Hotel and be met with old fashioned southern grace and welcome. I didn't expect to see the quality of the facilities and our room. I thought that for this elegance I should be paying much more. The service from the staff was excellent, friendly and professional.

The unit we got was tasteful with a comfortable bed, good lighting, as example. The location of the hotel was very central, very close to many restaurants and bars, the river trail and downtown and the perfect location downtown.

Hot weekend(105 degrees +) could drop the temp lower than 70 degrees in the room. Friendly staff. Noicey. Great location.

The hotel had a charming lobby and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the room was outdated and lacked a mini fridge, which was a letdown. The air conditioning only cooled to 69 degrees, leaving the room warmer than preferred.

Very convenient to downtown Richmond. We were there for a niece's graduation from Virginia Commonwealth Univ. And all the activities were only a short walk away. It is also very close to the State Capital and to all the activity along the James River.

Liked the restaurant for breakfast.

It was in a very nice historic part of Richmond that had become or is becoming a trendy area.
The hotel is in need of some general maintenance or more regular upkeep. You can see that it was at some point a top notch hotel, but it has started to slide. That being said it could quickly become a 5 star hotel again with a little more care.

I experienced inadequate breakfast options, with a continental spread that left much to be desired, lacking variety and visual appeal. Noise disturbances from outside and cramped room conditions were great, while occasional issues with room maintenance amplified frustrations .

Service was excellent. Loved the room and the live jazz.

Love that it is small and very restful. Excellent service. Lots of atmosphere. Reminds me of the way hotels use to be before they became so generic.
Unfortunately, from our room, we could hear a great deal of noise from the area bars and restaurants until the wee hours of the morning.

It was just an excellent fit for a brief sojourn in Richmond with extraordinarily good value for money. The location was superb, just a short walk to the Tobacco Company restaurant, a good surprise. A tip for anyone visiting, take a stroll to the local art spots nearby in the evening.
